The18th edition of International Film
festival of Kerala (IFFK) begins today. Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy will inaugurate
the festival at the kanakakunnu, Nishagandhi auditorium today at 6 PM. Festival
is auspicious to have the Giant of Film Makers Carlos Saura, to grace the
occasion with his presence and accept the Life Time achievement award. Actress
Shabana Azmi is the guest of honour Shabana Azmi who was present during the
Chalachitra Academy Inauguration (1998), is back into the land after years.
Mexican Ambassador Jaime Nualart,Minister of Tourism A P Anil Kumar, Minister of
Cultural Affairs K C Joseph, Minister of Health V.S Shiva Kumar, Muraleedharan
MLA, will felicitate on the Occasion. Actress Manju Warrier will be also present.
A special cultural program, in relation to the 100 years of Indian Cinema
Celebration will take place. Amos
Gitai’s, ‘Ana Arabia’ will be the Inaugural movie.
The week-long festival Features in
211 films from 64 countries. The Films will be screened in 12 theatres as
Kairali,Sree, Nila, Athulya, Anjali, Sree Padhamanabha, Dhanya, Remya Sree
Vishak, Ajantha and Nishagandhi open air auditorium for the public. Online
Ticket Reservations are available through the IFFK oficial website. Despite of
the Festival autos, she taxis and Pink auto services are arranged for the
safety of the female delegates.
Nearly ten thousand delegates
including the media personalities will participate in the festival. Regular
events are: Meet the press, In conversation, Meet the Director. Film Marketing
Workshops and seminars will be lead out by the Film Dignitaries. A Film
Technical exhibition will also be showcased as a part of the Festival.
